THE work of a group of Bolton businesswomen helping the worldwide campaign to prevent violence against women and girls has been given a £10,000 boost.

The Orange Hub is an offshoot of the Bolton-based SheInspires Awards and part of the United Nations’ Secretary General’s “Orange the World” movement.

This aims to stop violence towards women and girls and, to support this, the Hub created an initiative called Let’s Talk Money promoting financial independence.

Now, this initiative has been given £10,000 in the Aviva Community Awards which SheInspires’ co-founder Gulnaz Brennan commented, made them feel “incredibly honoured.”

She added: “This recognition stands as a testament to the remarkable support we’ve received from the Aviva Community Fund and Bolton company Stanmore Insurance Brokers who nominated us.

“It reaffirms our commitment to our mission to make the world a safer place, one step at a time. The money will enable us to set up Orange Hubs online and in-person to support financial wellbeing in our communities, especially for the most vulnerable.”

Jenny Hyde, Associate Director of Stanmore Insurance and an Orange Champion, explained: “I work with other Orange Champions to look to create opportunities and support mechanisms for victims of domestic violence.

“Gulnaz’s winning project Orange Hubs is a fantastic resource to get much-needed support to the right people. As a business we’re thrilled to have been able to help local initiatives and are certain this award will have a huge impact on the future of Orange Hubs.”

The Orange Hubs provide a vital resource for empowering individuals and communities by focusing on financial wellbeing. They are an online resource, an aid for positive mental health and their community forums allow individuals to share experiences, offer advice and connect with others.

They run workshops and seminars, offer financial counselling and collaborate with local organisations and businesses to provide job opportunities and support for community members.

Gulnaz and her Orange team are currently recruiting other financial experts to offer their expertise and support. For more information go to sheinspiresfoundation.org.uk
