Dr. Trish Houghton!!!

Enrolling as a Nurse in 1988, Mother of two Dr. Trish quickly climbed the ladder and became a qualified nurse in just two years, and later on a registered nurse in 1996! She also balanced her full time job with studying, and earned a BA Heath Studies degree. Throughout her medical career, Dr. Trish has nurtured and supported junior staff & students in their studies, eventually moving into the Education sector.
Employed by the University of Bolton in 2005, Dr. Trish began as a Senior Lecturer, where she successfully earned a Masters in Collaborative Healthcare with a distinction grade – and was later promoted to the Academic Coordinator for Quality role.
Dr. Trish planned, wrote, developed and implemented a new model of nurse education: BSc Nursing. This was the first nurse education programme not to be funded by Heath Education England.
Her programme has been featured in numerous nursing and education journals including The Nursing Standard & The Nursing Times, as well as being featured in local media. Dr. Trish’s hard work has been recognised, being nominated and winning several awards such as the Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS Trusts & Quality Awards for Partnership Working.
To top it all off, Dr. Trish achieved a PhD in 2017!
