Fitness & Wellbeing – Winner
Jo Potts!!!
‘True Serenity’ opened in 2009 with the goal of reaching as many people in Rochdale as possible, offering them opportunities and high quality information when it comes to Health and Wellbeing. Created through Jo’s own personal experiences and her wish to make a difference.
Jo was approached in regards to the lack of services for families handling Autism, with hopes that she could do something. She researched into autism and gained Certs in Autism/Aspergers to better understand the condition and engage those affected in health and well-being activities. Jo created the non-profit Autism Empowerment CIC under the name “Enlightening’ – funded through Rochdale MBC and the NHS. Enlightening does over 200 therapeutic intentions per month for children & young people on the Autism Spectrum.
Jo offers volunteer opportunities to young people and adults suffering with anxiety, depression and other mental illnesses, and with patience and nurturing have helped them blossom into vibrant & valuable members of the team, including one young man who’s worked as an Apprentice for 6 years and has completed his Level 4 in Business Administration!
Huge congratulations, Jo!!! #FitnessandWellbeing #Winner
