SHEro Award – Winner
Paula Slater!!!

Paula set up the Katy Holmes trust to fund paediatric brain tumour research following the devastating loss of her ten year old daughter. She dedicated herself to raising money for the cause and held several events across the North West, garnering the attention of the Prime Minister, TRH The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge, and media outlets. Within only four years, the Katy Holmes trust was able to invest over an astounding £1.1 million towards paediatric brain tumour research.
One particular event was a huge community event called The North West Pride Awards. Held in 2015, this event was like a mini Pride of Britain for individuals North West. This was Paula’s way of giving back to her community. With help from other organisations she created sponsorship packages, a website a nomination platform, organised the judging panel and created publicity. With just 35 volunteers, and no help from the council or local business groups, the event had an attendance of over 2000 people, with eighteen children receiving awards and a total fundraiser of over £100k!
Paula managed all of this whilst caring for and raising her grieving daughter and new-born, proving she will do anything to protect her children or give them justice.

Let’s give a MASSIVE congratulations to Paula! #SHEro #Winner
